A payment card for your business

Every type of Mastercard Business Qonto debit card allows you to withdraw cash at any ATM in the Netherlands and abroad. The number of free monthly withdrawals depends on your card type:

1. 0 with the One Card;
2. 5 with the Plus Card;
3. Unlimited with the X Card.

We charge €1 excluding VAT for each withdrawal that exceeds these limits.

From your customer interface, you can set the limits for payments and ATM withdrawals of your business payment card yourself, depending on your company's needs.

However, you cannot exceed the monthly withdrawal limit. This amount varies depending on the type of your debit card:

1. €1,000 with the One Card;
2. €2,000 with the Plus Card;
3. €5,000 with the X Card.

Every Qonto plan except the Starter Plan automatically includes a set number of One Cards. For example, our Smart plan includes 2 business debit cards. With the free Starter Plan, you get 1 free virtual payment card with your account.

You can order additional payment cards as needed. Each extra debit card costs an additional €5.

If you'd like to benefit from the Plus Card, this costs €8 per month. For the X Card and its premium services, you pay €20 per month.

Note that there are no income requirements for being issued our professional Mastercard Business payment cards.

The virtual payment card

Using a physical business debit card carries several risks for the owner: theft, loss, or hacking, especially through phishing. To tackle this problem, many online banks and financial management solutions have developed a range of virtual payment cards.

They work the same way as a classic payment card, but you can only make online payments for your company's business expenses.

Just like with a physical credit card, you complete your order by entering your virtual card number, the expiry date, and the security code (CVV).

Choose to use a recurring virtual payment card if you want to use it to pay for your SaaS software subscriptions. For extra protection, Qonto asks you to enter a confidential code to confirm each payment. This way, the risk of your card details being stolen is virtually non-existent!

3D Secure

3D Secure is a security protocol designed to prevent fraud with online credit card payments.

When making a purchase on a website equipped with 3D Secure technology, you must enter a unique security code in addition to your usual card details (cardholder name, card number, expiry date, and security code).

Usually, your bank or payment institution sends you this code by SMS to confirm that you are the person making the online purchase.

The online store where you make your purchases must be equipped with 3D Secure to secure your online payments with this system. But your business card must be equipped with it too. Don't forget to check this when comparing online business banks.

Can't find your business debit card anymore? Have you noticed suspicious transactions on your account statement that suggest you're a victim of card data theft?

Act immediately and contact your bank to block the card. From that moment on, your debit card becomes unusable. To confirm your block, send a registered letter with proof of receipt to your bank.

Keep in mind that with a traditional bank, you cannot unblock the payment card if you find it again after activating the block. You'll therefore have to wait until you receive a new payment card.

With Qonto, blocking your payment card via the app is not irreversible. You can unblock the card with one click if you find it again. However, if you've genuinely lost the card, you can order a new one through the interface.

The deferred debit card allows you to postpone payment for a purchase. For example, with a deferred payment period of 25 days, the company's bank account is only debited 25 days after your purchases. This payment card works similarly to a credit card, but doesn't involve any interest.

This type of card is particularly suitable for certain employees, such as sales representatives or staff who advance a lot of travel expenses for their business trips.

This way, their current account is only debited after their payslip is issued and their salary is received. This is a major advantage to prevent your employees from facing personal liquidity problems.

However, keep in mind that the deferred debit card's term is fixed and predetermined by your bank. You cannot change it according to the company's business expenses. This is why it requires a certain habit to avoid confusing the different payment terms.

The immediate debit card deducts purchases from the current account straight away after payment. Usually, you have to wait 2 to 3 days before the debit card transaction appears on the banking interface.

No unpleasant surprises with an immediate debit business card. You see your expenses in real time and know the balance of your accounts. A real advantage for managing your cash flow.

With your Qonto account, you benefit from at least one immediate debit payment card. We don't offer deferred debit cards.

To keep your employees' expenses under control and follow the evolution of your available balance in real time, you can link your immediate debit card to payment limits.

The pre-authorized card is another variant. Just like a prepaid card, this type of business card allows any purchase as long as the preset limit isn't exceeded.

Nothing stops you from going into overdraft with a deferred debit card if the limit allows it. Whereas payment with a pre-authorized card is impossible if the user tries to make a payment that exceeds the set limit.

This type of business debit card is ideal if you want to give your employees more freedom for their business expenses, while making sure the allocated budgets aren't exceeded. You manage your teams' expenses and stay in control at all times.

Qonto's payment cards work exactly like other direct debit bank cards available on the market. To order your Mastercard Business debit card, you can submit a request from your online account. You'll receive it directly by mail.

To activate the card, make a first purchase and enter your PIN code at the payment terminal. Contactless payments up to €50 are unlocked after completing this first transaction.
